what it is

Output that passes every heuristic check, every factual gate, every syntax rule, and still isn't right. Technically correct, structurally sound, topically relevant, tonally flat. Commits no sins and achieves no grace. The gap between "not wrong" and "right" is where taste lives, and taste is what heuristics cannot measure.

how to detect

Run all automated checks. If they pass, read the output and ask: "Would I put my name on this?" If the answer is no and you can't point to a specific error, you've found Not Wrong.

instead

Accept that automated metrics have a ceiling. Above it, the only instrument is a human who will say "this isn't good enough" when every dashboard is green.
